Changing your tracking ID: scheduled and live posts
After you change your Amazon tracking ID, scheduled posts use the new one; live everysqueeze.com/r/ links switch too, live amazon.com links keep the old one.
Change it in Settings → Amazon (in the phone app: the cog, Accounts and platforms, Amazon tracking IDs). What happens next depends on whether a post has gone out yet.
Posts that haven't gone out yet
Leave your schedule alone: you don't need to delete or reschedule anything. A scheduled post stores no link. The Facebook caption link, the first comment, the Pin link, the Instagram follow-up, a YouTube description built at upload and your own link are all built when the post goes out, with the ID saved then. Auto DM uses the ID saved when it sends each message.
One exception: a YouTube post you scheduled from the YouTube description box keeps the finished description you saw, link included. Remove it from Schedule and schedule it again. Settings tells you after a save if you have any.
Posts that are already live
It depends on the link, and you can tell by how it starts:
- everysqueeze.com/r/… links look up your tracking ID each time someone taps them, so they use the new ID within a few minutes, on old posts too. Today these are the first-comment link, the link in Auto DM messages, YouTube description links that start this way, link builder links that start this way, and the phone app's Deep link copy.
- amazon.com/…?tag=… links have the ID written into them, so they keep the old one: the Facebook caption link, the Pin link, YouTube description links that start with amazon.com, the phone card's Copy link, link builder links that say a direct amazon.com link, and any older comment or message whose link starts with amazon.com.
To move an amazon.com link to the new ID, edit that post on Facebook, Pinterest or YouTube yourself, or build and copy the link again. If the old ID is still one of your tracking IDs in Associates Central, those links keep paying you, just under the old ID.
